Weekend Binging

Do you have a hard time staying on track with your nutrition over the weekend? This used to be a struggle for me. I would eat a well balanced diet during the week, but once the weekend came around I would binge on pizza, ice cream, burgers, fries and other less than nutritious foods. This type of weekend binge eating is fairly common. It’s the reason we all want to start a diet on Monday. You can eat the junk you want during the weekend and get back on track at the beginning of the week. Then, by the time Friday comes around again, you think “I have been good all week…I deserve to let loose and eat/drink whatever I want.

If you want a burger or fries or ice cream….EAT IT….AT ANY POINT DURING THE WEEK. You don’t have to wait for the weekend. Incorporate the foods you enjoy eating into everyday life vs seeing them as a reward for being “good” all week.

The trick incorporating your favorite foods into a healthy lifestyle is to plan ahead. If you know that you want nuggets from your favorite fast food restaurant plan it into your daily calorie count. If you plug the number of calories into your caloric tracking app BEFORE you eat it, you will know how it fits into your daily calories. If you wait to enter it in until the end of the day after you have eaten the nuggets AND all the other food you ate during the day you may end up going over your calories for the day.

Can you relate to weekend binging?
